I met Lise through her little brother Marc, who was a friend from university. In the biology program at Mcgill, we had a circle of friends who were always up for being photographed and never minded me always carrying a camera around. I grew as a photographer through those friends, and some of earliest favourite pictures are of Marc. One of the photographs I took of him led to me getting my first photography job ever. When Lise contacted me, I was happy to have the opportunity to shoot the wedding, since I owe my photography start to a Huppler after all. The wedding was great. Probably my favorite wedding dress I’ve seen so far. The venue was in Rigaud at Au Vieux Moulin. Beautiful! The owner Doug Young was helpful to show me good locations to shoot around, but really, you could have shot anywhere and the scenery was always amazing. Some of Marc and I's friends were also attending the wedding to help out with decorations, so I crossed the lines between photographer and chauffeur as I picked them up on my way there. It's great to have people you know when shooting weddings for a change!
The venue overlooked a small pond, and there was a huge field in the back with lots of shade and a swing.
As a photographer, you learn some fun ideas for weddings after shooting for a while. For example, Lise and Kevin set up a numbered envelope on each table. The guests were invited to write a letter to them, which they would only open on their anniversary year matching the date on the envelope. So every year, on their anniversary, they get to open a letter from friends written to them on the wedding day. Brilliant!
Everyone was touched by their unplanned matching vows and the amazing speeches, most notably from Marc. The food was delicious. Probably my funnest wedding yet! I'd love to go back to Au Vieux Moulin.
